Community Reporters

Parnwell Community Reporters...

We've recruited ten Community Reporters for Parnwell - local people who are receiving training and support so that they can broadcast their news and views and spread the word about what is going on in Parnwell.

The training being delivered is covering a range of mediums to allow the Reporters as much flexibility as possible - from creative writing and photography, to blogging, social media, and broadcast journalism. Training is being delivered by experts including BBC radio Cambridgeshire producer Steve Titman, published author Tim Wilson and broadcast journalist Emma Baugh from BBC Look East.

“The skills and experience we’ve gained through the Community Reporters project are life skills which are useful for work and home and are essential for helping to build a closer community in the area that we live in. Parnwell is often overlooked, and it’s important that we shout about what is going on locally and the issues that affect us. The community now has a group of people on the lookout for interesting stories, events and activities to share. Community Reporters get under the skin of a place in a way that traditional media can’t and reveal the life stories and opinions of local people that otherwise wouldn’t get heard.” Shamsa Nagji, Community Reporter
